JOHN S. NORRIS, Honorary Class '93, was head coach of the URI baseball team for 18 years, leading the Rams from 1970-87 and averaging nearly a dozen victories per season. He won 22 games in 1984--a Rhode Island record at the time--while finishing second in the Atlantic 10's Eastern Division. He began working at the University in 1968 as an assistant professor and in 1993 he became an honorary alumnus for his more than 25 years of outstanding teaching, service, and dedication to his students. He was also a member of the American Association of University Professors, as well as the New England Association of College Baseball Coaches.
