PATRICIA A. RUGGIERO '71 was a four-year starter for both the field hockey and softball teams at URI, as well as a swimming and fencing standout. She became Director of Athletics at Tolman High School, where she also coached four sports and taught physical education. Head coach of fencing and assistant coach of softball at URI, she became a nationally prominent field hockey official who was chosen to officiate at the 1990 Olympic Festival, as well as at several NCAA regional and Final Four competitions.
