MARK S. CRUISE '81 was named team MVP by the Providence Gridiron Club and second-team All-Yankee Conference as a senior co-captain in 1980 for the Ram football team after finishing second on the team in tackles (71) and interceptions (3). As a junior he wound up with 60 tackles, three sacks and three fumble recoveries. In 1978 he was named UPI honorable mention All-New England while leading the Rams to a 7-3 mark and helping to hold opponents scoreless for 14 straight quarters. Ten years later, he was named to Rhode Island's All-1980s squad as a defensive end. Cruise signed free agent contracts with the NFL's Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
