LARS GUCK '91 was international canoe champion, world keelboat titlist, and the only three-time sailing All-America in school history at the time of his induction. A world-class catamaran skipper who came close to making three Olympic games, he finished fourth at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the Tornado Class in 1992, second by a boat length in 1996 and second again, this time by a foot, in 2000. In 1987 Guck took second at the International Canoe Championships and three years later went to Germany and won the triennial event. That same year, he skippered the eight-member URI crew, representing the U.S., to victory over 22 other countries at the World Keelboat Championships in Toulon, France.
