DONALD E. GAMBLE '48 won the Yankee Conference Triple Crown in tennis as a senior in 1948 by taking the league singles title. He teamed with Dick Sargeson for the doubles title and led the Rams to the team championship. Gamble left school after one year, in 1942, to serve as a U.S. Navy pilot in World War II. He returned after the war, earned a chemical engineering degree, and worked for Dupont for 35 years. He followed his wife Mary (inducted in 1999) as the fourth husband-wife team in the Hall of Fame.
