ROBERT C. NICHOLS '43, an NCAA All-American in the early 1940s as a cross-country and two-mile standout in both indoor and outdoor track, was a four-year letterman in both sports. Winner of the New England cross-country title four years in a row, and winner of the IC4A two-mile championship, he was also a member of national collegiate cross-country championship teams and was the NCAA and IC4A top finisher for three years. The former owner and manager of Cashway Lumber in Tucson, Ariz., for 23 years, he retired to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in 1970.
