Pete DiVito is entering his second year at the University of Rhode Island. He comes to URI following two years as the Asst. Media Relations Director at Merrimack College. DiVito will serve as the primary contact for the Rams football team and also work with volleyball, swimming & diving, indoor track & field, softball and rowing.While at Merrimack, DiVito was the primary contact for the Warriors Division I hockey team. He also handled all media duties for football (2005), women's soccer, volleyball, baseball, and men's lacrosse, and supervised all of the media relations department's student-workers. DiVito also handled stats for all football and men's and women's basketball games.DiVito came to Merrimack after serving as the Sports Information Director at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. Appointed the first-ever SID in July, 2004, DiVito handled all SID duties for the College's nine Division II sports.He worked in the University of Delaware SID office for three years (2002-05) - the last while also working at Golden-Beacom. DiVito began his sports information career at Rutgers University (2001-02).A 2001 graduate of Towson University with a degree in communications, DiVito spent three years as a student-worker in the Towson athletic department. As a senior, he worked as a sports reporter for The Towerlight, Towson University's school newspaper, and was a four-year member of the club roller hockey team.DiVito is a member of CoSIDA and has worked numerous NCAA Tournaments, most recently at the 2007 NCAA Ice Hockey Regionals in Manchester, NH.A native of Hillsborough, N.J., DiVito and his wife, Melissa, were married in June, 2008. The couple resides in West Warwick.
